06 May Co-organization and participation in a workshop entitled “Applied innovations in autism. Educating the community” – 2022
Members of the Programme’s Foundation Coordination Group and the Programme’s Expert Committee participated in the co-organization and coordination of a workshop entitled:
“Applied Innovations in Autism.
Educating the community”.
Being part of a community is an integral component of a happy and healthy life.
The workshop was held on Friday, 06 May 2022 at the Amphitheatre of the Department of Public and Community Health of the UniWA, under the auspices of the Hellenic Society of Public Health, and was organized in collaboration with the Special Academic Unit for Child Developmental Health of the Laboratory of Hygiene and Epidemiology of the Department of Public and Community Health of the UniWA.
During the proceedings of the event, issues discussed included:
- Autism
- The needs of people and families with autism
- Innovative technologies related to the education of children with autism
The members of the Programme’s Foundation Coordination Group who participated in the event were:

- Koumpouros Ioannis, Associate Professor, UniWA
- Sakellari Evanthia, Associate Professor, UniWA
The members of the Programme’s Expert Committee who participated in the workshop were:
- Vavanou Konstantia, Psychologists’ Education Counsellor (Special Educational Personnel) Region of Central Greece
- Gika Anthi, Speech Therapist, Director of “Sikyarideio” Special Kindergarte
The conference was attended by members of the academic community of the UniWA who are interested in autism, such as students, teachers, etc.. On top of that, in proceedings also participated the well-known basketball player and autism advocate, Dimitris Papanikolaou, and the Member of the European Parliament Stelios Kympouropoulos.
