Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of the course students will be able to:

  • Describe the principles of applied behavioural analysis (ABA)
  • Understand and apply methods and programs to address the basic symptomatology of ASD
  • Understand and apply methods and programs to address disruptive behaviors in ASD
  • Describe ways of assessing psychological comorbidities and sleep disorders in ASD
  • Apply methods and programmes to address comorbidities (mental and sleep disorders)
  • Understand, design and implement early intervention programmes in ASD (e.g. Treatment and Education of Autistic and related Communication-Handicapped Children TEACCH, Floor-Time/DIR)

Early intervention: introduction to ABA-based early intervention models, Integrated intervention models for children with ASD (UCLA Young Autism Project, Early Intensive Behavioral Intervention EIBI, Pivotal Response Training, Treatment and Education of Autistic and related Communication-Handicapped Children TEACCH, Early Start Denver Model ESDM, Floor-Time/DIR)
