The Programme is aimed at graduates of the Schools of Medicine, the Department of Public and Community Health, the Departments of Philology, the Schools of Health Sciences, Health Professions and Welfare, the Departments of Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, Social Work, Psychology, Physiotherapy, Educational Sciences and Sciences or of recognized foreign equivalent institutions, in accordance with the current legislation. The selection of candidates is made after a selection on the basis of specific criteria, which are defined in the Internal Regulation of Operation of the Programme  and each call for expression of interest.

The members of the SEP (Special Educational Personnel) categories, as well as the LTP (Laboratory Teaching Personnel) and the SLTP (Special Laboratory Technical Personnel) can, after their application, register as a supernumerary and only 1 per year, without tuition fees.

The Programme curriculum is organised in 4 academic semesters and includes 10 courses, the Diploma Thesis and the Internship, activities which are all compulsory. In addition, the study programme offers 2 specialisations:

Specialisation 1: Interventions in special education
Specialisation 2: Interventions in clinical practice: individual and community intervention

The choice of specialisation takes place in the second semester of studies.

The expected duration of study at the Programme is 4 academic semesters, while it may be extended up to 2 academic semesters. Thus, the maximum duration of study cannot exceed 6 academic semesters.

The Programme is conducted in the Greek language. However, postgraduate students are required to have at least satisfactory knowledge of the English language (CEFR Level B2).

Studying at the Programme, requires the payment of tuition fees of €4,000. The possibility of partial payment is provided in accordance with the terms of the call for expression of interest per study cycle. In cases of interruption of studies, the total amount paid is not refunded. Tuition fees are paid to the Special Account for Research Grants (ELKE) of UniWA, which is responsible for their management. Postgraduate students must have paid all their financial obligations before the certificate of completion and the awarding of the Diploma.

Studying at the Programme does not provide the possibility of part-time studies. Nevertheless, it is possible to suspend the study for no more than 2 academic semesters.

Every postgraduate student has the right to request, from the Curriculum Committee (CuC) of the Programme permission to suspend the attendance of courses or the preparation of the Diploma Thesis. The leave is granted following the recommendation of the Coordinating Committee (CoC) of the Programme and with the decision of the CuC, for demonstrably serious reasons (e.g. in cases of prolonged illness certified by a public body, in the case of a similar period of professional travel or in cases of fulfilling their military service), only once and cannot be longer than 2 academic semesters. The semesters of suspension of the student status are not counted towards the expected maximum duration of study. Suspension may not exceed 2 semesters in total. The graduate student who receives a suspension of studies, upon his/her return, joins the semester in which he/she received the suspension of studies and is obliged to attend the courses, seminars, practical exercises, etc., in which he/she was not successfully evaluated before the suspension of the studies.

The Programme is offered to students from all over Greece who have the opportunity to attend certain courses in person at the facilities of the UniWA Athens University Campus, 196 Alexandras Avenue, 11521, Athens. The number of face-to-face lectures and meetings will be determined on the basis of the distance learning requirements of the Programme and will be announced at the beginning of each semester.

The courses’ timetable of the Programme offers the possibility for students to attend the Programme even if they work in the morning.

The Programme courses are conducted remotely at a rate that does not exceed 80% of the credit units of the study programme. The remaining 20% ​​is conducted in person.

Remote learning utilises the MS Teams platform for synchronous education (lectures, questions and answers, participation in discussions, etc.) and the Open eClass platform for asynchronous learning (sharing documents and educational materials, etc.). Both are provided to postgraduates at no extra charge.

In person learning takes place at the Programme facilities in the Athens University Campus of UniWA, 196 Alexandras Avenue, Athens, 115 21.

To support the educational process, the online tools “e-Study” and the institutional Microsoft Office 365 account, part of which is the institutional email, are also used. The first one enables students to have access to their grades, their course declarations, the documents they request from the Programme Secretariat, the evaluation of the courses, etc. The second provides students with useful tools to support their studies, such as the applications MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Teams, OneDrive, Outlook (institutional email – WebMail), etc.

The above tools are accessible through the “Students” -> “Active Students” section, but also through the bottom menu of the Programme website.

Up to 60 postgraduate students are selected each year, 30 per specialisation. The upper limit of admitted students may be increased in only two cases. In the case of a grade equal to the grade of the 60^th student and in the case of members of SEP (Special Educational Personnel), LTP (Laboratory Teaching Personnel) and SLTP (Special Laboratory Technical Personnel). With reference to the first case, the upper limit is increased accordingly until the acceptance of all prospective postgraduate students who have a grade equal to the grade of the 60^th prospective postgraduate student. Regarding the second case, SEP, LTP and SLTP members can register as a supernumerary and only 1 per year, without tuition fees. The upper limit cannot be increased by more than 10% of the upper limit.

The selection of students is based on specific criteria, which are defined in the Programme Internal Operating Regulation and in each call for expressions of interest. In summary, these criteria are:

• Degree/diploma grade and the score in the undergraduate courses that are related to the subject of the Programme at a rate of 15%
• Performance in the Bachelor/Diploma Thesis, where this is provided for in the first cycle of studies (and if it is related to the subject of the Programme) or Grade in an important course related to the subject of the Programme at the discretion of the Candidate Evaluation Committee (CEC), in case which does not provide for a Bachelor/Diploma Thesis in the first cycle of studies at a rate of 10%
• Research or professional activity related to the subject of the Programme at a rate of 10%
• Publications and writing activity at a rate of 10%
• Letters of recommendation at a rate of 5%
• Oral interview at a rate of 50%

The Programme, in accordance with what is defined in its Internal Regulation of Operation, may grant reciprocating and non-reciprocating scholarships to full-time postgraduate students, in accordance with the decision of the Curriculum Committee (CuC) of the Programme (SCU). These scholarships are divided into non-remunerative and remunerative scholarships.

Non-reciprocating scholarships

The non-reciprocating scholarships are granted based on objective criteria, academic, financial and social, which indicatively may be:

Academically:

• The study
• The grade point average of the previous semester
• The degree grade with which you were admitted to the Programme
• Recent academic achievements (awards and honours)

Financially:

Registered students may study for free at the Programme, as long as they meet the financial or social criteria in accordance with the provisions of article 86 of Law 4957/2022 and of Ministerial Decision no. 108990/Ζ1/8-9-2022 (Β’ 4899/2022).

Social:

• Divorced candidate with dependents (children)
• Candidate’s disability
• Candidate member of a single-parent family
• Candidate orphan from two parents who has not exceeded 25 years of age
• Candidate child of a large family
• Candidates members of the same family

Reciprocating Scholarships

Reciprocating scholarships are awarded for socio-economic reasons, with a stronger focus on economic weakness, after the candidate has accepted an offer of 10 hours of weekly administrative work to the Programme.
