ACADEMIC CAREER SUMMARY

 

Areti Lagiou is Professor of Epidemiology, Disease Prevention and Public Health, Director of the Laboratory of Hygiene and Epidemiology, Chair of the Department of Public and Community Health and Associate Professor of Public Health. Dean of the School of Public Health, University of West Attica, Greece. He holds MSc & PhD degrees in Epidemiology and Population Health from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM), University of London (UCL) and postdoctoral research from the Harvard School of Public Health (HSPH).

He has many years of independent teaching experience at both undergraduate and postgraduate level in the fields of Epidemiology, Disease Prevention, and Public Health. She is the Director of the MSc “Epidemiology and Health Promotion”. She is also currently the scientific manager of four Lifelong Learning Programmes, implemented by the KEDIBIM of the PADA.

Her research interests include epidemiology, prevention of chronic diseases, and health promotion. She has extensive research experience with active participation in national and international epidemiological studies and consortia and scientific responsibility of funded research and development projects. He currently has scientific responsibility for two NSRF funded projects.

He has published a large number of Greek and foreign language papers, most of them in peer-reviewed journals indexed in major scientific databases. He has published more than 120 papers in foreign languages, 95 of which are indexed in the prestigious MEDLINE and ISI databases. As of September 2022, the Google Scholar database recorded more than 3,806 bibliographic references to her work and a Hirsch index (h-index) of 30. She has contributed to the book “Epidemiology and Health Promotion – Behavioral Epidemiology” and has authored chapters in major foreign language and Greek books.

He has many years of service in positions of high administrative responsibility. He is currently the Chair of the Department, Vice Chair of the Department, Vice Chair of the Department, Vice Chair of the Department, Vice Chair of the Department, Vice Chair of the Department. She is currently the Vice Dean of the Department, Deputy Dean and Director of an institutionalized research laboratory. She has served as a member of key institutional committees (e.g., MOPD, Research Committee, etc.) and as a member of the Special Board of the Research Committee.
