Associate Professor of Childhood Public Health – Public Health

SUMMARY OF ACADEMIC ACTIVITIES

Dimitrios Langas studied at the Medical School of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and holds the specialties of Pediatrics and Public Health and Social Medicine. He holds a Master’s degree in Public Health from the National School of Public Health and a PhD from the Laboratory of Hygiene and Epidemiology of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. He has served as Scientific Associate in the Child Health Department of the National School of Public Health ( 1994-2019 ) and Director of Studies of the Postgraduate Program in Public Health of the National School of Public Health ( 2011-2019 ). In September 2019 he joined – after a review – as Associate Professor with the subject “Public Health of Childhood – Public Health” at the Department of Public and Community Health of the School of Public Health of the University of West Attica.

Teaching work:

He has many years of independent teaching work both at undergraduate level in the subjects of Pediatrics of Social Hygiene, Global Public Health of the course Health and Disease and First Aid Theory, and at postgraduate level in the Programs: Health Promotion in the Third Age and Environmental Communication and Health Promotion.

Administrative work:

He is the Course Coordinator of the Basic Science Courses in Public and Community Health, Department of Public and Community Health , Associate Director of the Postgraduate Programme “Health Promotion in the Third Age” and Academic Advisor of students with disabilities.

Research Project:

His research work focuses on Social Pediatrics and Public Health in Childhood Primary Prevention and Community Health. He has been involved as a researcher in the project: “System for the production of health map indicators” and as a coordinating researcher in the “National study on the status of child vaccination in Greece”.

He is a member of the Laboratory of Hygiene and Epidemiology and a founding member of the Digital Innovations in Public Health Laboratory of the Department of Public and Community Health.

He is a founding member and Secretary General of the Hellenic Society of Public Health and Alternate Member of the Board of the Hellenic Society of Public Health and Social Medicine.
