SUMMARY OF ACADEMIC ACTIVITY

 

Giorgos Andreiomenos (1964), an honors graduate of the Department of Byzantine and Modern Greek Philology of the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Athens (1986) and a doctorate from the English University of Birmingham (1991), is a professor of Modern Greek Philology at the Department of Philology of the University of Peloponnese (2008 etc. ex.). He has been a Research Associate of the Center for Byzantine, Ottoman and Modern Greek Studies at the University of Birmingham (1991-1992) and a Scientific Associate of the Directorate of Military History (GES, 1993-1994), while he has taught courses in his specialty at the University of Patras (PTDE, 1995 -1997) and at the Ionian University (TXGMD and TAB, 1997-2008), as well as in other higher and higher institutions of the country and abroad (Rhodes School of Guides, ELAS Officers School, Bosworth Tutors College [Northampton], University of Mainz) . He has received a series of scholarships to complete his studies and strengthen his research. In addition, he has been, for a number of years, a member of various evaluation committees, including the Council for Educational Evaluation and Certification of the Republic of Cyprus, the State Scholarship Foundation and the Central Committee of the Panhellenic Examinations of the Ministry of Education and Culture, as well as the State Literary Awards of the Ministry of Education of Greece and the Ministry of Education and Culture of Cyprus. He has supervised eight completed doctoral theses and has coordinated the scientific program “Heraklitos”, in the context of which eight doctorates were prepared at the University of Peloponnese, while he was in the same Institution deputy rector for administration and personnel matters (2013-2017), vice-rector for administrative matters (2017 -2022) and director of the Transnational PMS for Special Education (partnership of the University of Peloponnese and the Italian University of Turin) and the PMS for Byzantine Culture organized by the Department of Philology in collaboration with INEVYP in Mystras. Currently, he is dean of the School of Humanities and Cultural Studies, directs the PMS “Ancient and Modern Greek Literature”, heads the Laboratory for the Longitudinal Study of the Greek Language and Writing “Nikos Karouzos” and has been appointed general philological supervisor of the publications of the Ourani Foundation of Academy of Athens. Many of his scientific papers have been published independently or have been published in authoritative journals, while he has participated with his announcements in a large number of conferences and has given numerous lectures in Greece and abroad.
